MSC Cruises has officially launched its 2024-25 cruise season in Brazil with the MSC Seaview’s arrival in Santos on November 10.
After crossing the Atlantic, the 2018-built ship began its first Brazilian cruise of the season, marking the start of MSC’s extensive operations in the region.
The inaugural event onboard MSC Seaview was attended by MSC Cruises’ Brazil Country Manager Adrian Ursilli, alongside ship officials, government authorities, travel agents, and members of the press.
Ursilli highlighted the economic impact of the season, underscoring MSC’s commitment to the Brazilian market.
“It is an honor to begin this season, representing both Brazilian and international visitors to our destinations and contributing significantly to the economy. We are focused on growth and expanding our presence in Brazil,” he stated.
During the 2024-25 season, MSC Cruises plans to deploy five vessels across six Brazilian homeports, offering a total of 126 cruises through late April. Two additional MSC ships, MSC Poesia and MSC Magnifica, will also make visits to Brazil as part of their broader itineraries, including MSC’s 2025 World Voyage.
Silvio Costa Filho, Brazil’s Minister of Ports and Airports, expressed gratitude to MSC Cruises for its role in promoting Brazil as a top cruise destination.
“We expect over 800,000 unique passengers this season, and in the coming years, we aim to surpass one million. This is a challenge we are ready to take on with the support of government agencies,” he stated.
In Santos, Brazil’s largest cruise homeport, officials anticipate a record season with 14 ships scheduled to make 152 port calls, bringing over a million passenger transits.
Beto Mendes, Director of Operations at the Port of Santos, celebrated the season’s launch, while Captain Marcos André Souza from the Brazilian Navy pledged ongoing support to ensure a safe and successful season.
The MSC Seaview’s first cruise of the season was a three-night itinerary, chartered by PromoAção, featuring stops in Búzios and a day at sea.
Throughout the season, MSC Seaview will operate three- to eight-night itineraries from Santos, while the MSC Grandiosa, MSC Orchestra, MSC Armonia, and MSC Splendida will operate additional routes across Santos, Salvador, Maceió, Rio de Janeiro, Paranaguá, and Itajaí.
Adding to Brazil’s cruise season, MSC’s fleet will be joined by three Costa Cruises vessels, further expanding the region’s international cruise offerings and enhancing Brazil’s profile as a premier global cruise destination.
